Waterproof tips on waterproofing

Now we hope you are ready for the project, and that you have found out which of our Swedish-made and approved wet room systems is the best fit for you and your wet room.
When you as a private person renovate or build a wet room yourself, it is important that you do it the right way. This means that the materials you use must come from an approved system that meets the requirements for water and vapor tightness. In order for you to succeed with the wet room project, you must follow the installation instructions as well as national industry and building regulations.

Biltema's wet room systems are approved systems that meet the requirements for water and vapor tightness based on current building and industry regulations, which is a prerequisite for the renovation or new building to be carried out in a professional manner.

ATTENTION! Our wet room systems must not be used outdoors or in an uninsulated basement where there is a risk of extra moisture.

Attach with tile adhesive

Tile adhesive is the material used to attach tiles in your wet room. You must use tile adhesive when affixing tiles, mosaics, and stone veneer to walls and floors. Tile adhesive is usually made from cement and comes in powder form.

When renovating your wet room, it is important that you use tile adhesive specifically designed for wet rooms.

Our tile adhesive is included in our waterproofing systems for wet rooms, and can be used on concrete, self-levelling floor screed, brick, plaster and plasterboard, both indoors and outdoors. Have you opted for underfloor heating in your wet room? No problem! Biltema’s tile adhesive is perfectly suitable for both electric and waterborne underfloor heating.

When applying the tile adhesive, make sure to spread it equally over the substrate. Then drag a notched trowel across the adhesive. Use the correct trowel size according to the thickness and size of your tiles.
