Adjusting hydraulic disc brakes

Adjusting hydraulic disc brakes

Bicycle brakes are frequently used while cycling, and it’s therefore important to check them regularly.

The use of disc brakes, which are powerful brakes, is becoming increasingly common. In order for the brakes to work optimally, you need to make sure that the brake calliper is centred, so that the brake pads are an equal distance from the brake disc.

We show you how to centre brake callipers in the step-by-step video below.

Instructions:

  1. Loosen the brake calliper screws half a turn so that the brake calliper is loose.
  2. Press and hold the hand brake lever, then screw the brake calliper back on. Remember to tighten the screws in a crisscross pattern and only tighten slightly each time to prevent the brake calliper from moving.
  3. Release the hand brake lever.
  4. As a general rule, you want to ensure the same amount of air on the right and left sides of the brake disc.
