Fitting and replacing pedals

Fitting and replacing pedals

There are many different types of pedals, and the pedals that best suit you depend on the bicycle you have and what you use it for. At Biltema we have pedals made of plastic, plastic/rubber and aluminium.

We have pedals that are ideal for your ladies or men’s bike, the bike you commute to work with, or your BMX or mountain bike. Simply put, we have the right pedals for your bike!

When it comes to fitting pedals, we would like to share an important piece of advice: Identify which pedal is for the right-hand side and which is for the left-hand side. Because just like your shoes, the pedals are designed for a specific side, and incorrectly mounted pedals will seriously damage the crank arm thread, which may result in you needing to replace the crank arm.

In the video below, we show you how to easily fit your bike pedals.

Instructions:

  1. Use a 15 mm spanner to loosen the pedals. NOTE! The left pedal is left-hand threaded.
  2. Grease the new pedals’ threads.
  3. Start by screwing on the new pedals by hand and then tightening with a 15 mm spanner. Tighten firmly.
